The Real Gabinete Português de Leitura is a public library located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, widely considered one of the ten most beautiful libraries in the world!

With the aim of connecting the public to its history and spaces, the Real Gabinete offers this exclusive guided tour in English, providing an enriching experience through its halls, collections, and fascinating facts that span centuries of history.

Please note that the tour starts promptly at the scheduled time and lasts approximately 1 hour. We highly recommend arriving 10 minutes in advance.

Important information: This specific guided tour is conducted exclusively in English. If you are looking for our regular tours in Portuguese, they are offered every Tuesday and Thursday. You can find the full schedule and booking links for the Portuguese tours here.

The library is open for free general visits (self-guided) from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
